Politics, Economy, Law & Society in China and Taiwan
International Summer School 2006

The University of Linz (Institute of Societal and Social Policy), National Taiwan University (Graduate Institute of National Development), and the Austrian Association of East Asian Studies are for the third time organising a joint international and academic Summer School in Taiwan.


Time and place: 31 July - 25 August 2006, National Taiwan University

Program outline:
Lectures are held at National Taiwan University (NTU), the working language is English. The program comprises a three-weeks’ course (Monday through Friday, six units a day, totalling 90 units) and a scheduled trip to Central and Southern Taiwan in week 4.

The following courses will be offered: (Program in detail: PDF Format)
1. Introduction to the Chinese legal system
2. Economic development of Taiwan since 1945
3. Economic development of China
4
. Technology and Society in Taiwan
5. China’s political system
6. Democratic development of Taiwan 

The courses mentioned above are regular courses (on graduate level) offered by NTU. They have been specifically adapted for this Summer School by professors from NTU and will be held in block sessions.

The Summer School will be concluded by a written final exam giving students the opportunity to transfer credits to their home university (One course = 2 credits)

Qualification requirements:
Students at universities (both graduate and undergraduate), universities of applied sciences and various educational institutions as well as employees with international companies; proficient knowledge of English

Accommodation:

Luxury hotel (Leader Taipei), double room with breakfast.
